Soccer & America

Hi guys, in this post, as promised, I'm gonna talk about how is soccer here in the U.S., how are american soccer players, how is organised and what does this represent for them.

First I wanna say something about the relationship between soccer and high school. The United States are the only country that has sports and activities related to the school. Is this bad or good? I think both. This issue came out during my last AP Biology class, yesterday, and the teacher said that in her opinion it's bad, because students are more focused on that then on the school. Probably she's influenced also by the fact that students are allowed to have an early release, which means leave the school earlier, to go to sport games, and she's right, because the school should come first. At the same time it's good, because it helps students making friends, having fun and staying together and, most important, if your mean of grades is not average you can't play. I think this to be a good point.

Soccer is played after school, almost 2 hour practice every day, this is also important for the health. There are 3 teams generally, depending on the numbers of players: C-squad, JV and Varsity. Varsity is the most important and c-squad the less; you can be moved between the teams based on how you play. Twice a week there are games, sometimes in your school, sometimes not. 10 years ago soccer wasn't popular here but now it is almost as football or baseball, but it's not so common in following games and stuff. Lot of guys play it, most of all hispanic people.
I'm in JV tem, practise are hard but I'm having lot of fun, on Tuesday there will be the first game so wish me good luck! ;)
